Scope of qualification

Able to instruct participants in high ropes experiences.

This qualification recognises the skills of a highly qualified and competent instructor in the outdoors in speciality areas. The holder of this qualification is able to provide the overall instruction and management (which includes planning, navigation, recognition of weather conditions, administering first aid and communication skills) of an outdoor activity and is also able to provide instruction in their chosen area. The ABL Instructor is able to facilitate adventure programming sessions with groups of students in a variety of environments. They have specialised training in the use of low and high ropes course elements and emergency responses in these environments.

Re-registration criteria
36 months

Professional Development: Minimum 12 hours logged professional development over three years in first strand

Minimum 6 hours professional development in each additional strand.

Experience as Leader/Instructor: Minimum 72 hours leader or co-leader experience over past three years for first strand.

Minimum 36 hours leader or co-leader experience in each extra strand

Personal experience: Minimum 72 hours personal experience per three years in first strand

Minimum 36 hours personal experience for each additional strand.

Note: Extra leadership experience can be logged instead of personal experience

First Aid/CPR:Current 1st Aid Certificate with an outdoors context

Attestation:Assessor of qualification or Senior Instructor in the discipline attests that the candidate is current in knowledge, skills and experience, fit for role and of good character

Police Check: Yes - include in attestation form.
