The Leader Level is the entry-level qualification for people leading, or intending to lead, outdoor recreation activities for people at an introductory or beginner level, where the emphasis is on participation in low-technical, low-risk environments rather than developing skills. People who hold this qualification are expected to operate within an organisation's safety management system. The Abseil Leader is able to manage single-pitch abseiling sessions there is easy walking access to the abseil anchors; there are fixed anchors (such as bolts, chains, bollards, warratahs) or trees or threads that have been inspected in accordance with organisational requirements; The abseil leader must have visited the site previously and had their set-up approved by a Rock Instructor or similarly qualified technical advisor; Personal safety for the Abseil Leader can be managed simply using fixed anchors, trees or threads.
